A woman from Texas USA attempted to sell her 4-month-old son through a classified advertisement, on Pennysaverusa.com. Brittany Hill was arrested right after the interested buyer Megan Heichelbeck, traveled from Florida to Dallas to see the child. She noted that the mother was dealing with an adoption agency and adoption fees could be involved. The price for the 4-month old was $4,000, as reported by Heichelbeck, although the ad mentions the price at $6,500. After she called authorities, police went to the woman’s house and discovered the baby alone in his baby bed. When the woman came back shortly was arrested and charged with child abandonment, a criminal offense. The baby is presently in the custody of Child Protective Services.
“I can no longer care for him the way he needs to be. We are living in a women’s shelter now,” the mother of the baby said. She says she was just seeking to raise money to get a lawyer for the process of adoption, not sell her son. “I know that’s illegal,” she said, speaking from jail. “I’m not stupid – that’s called, like, black-market something. I’ve read about it, I know.” “I will never have any more children,” she said. “If I could have had a hysterectomy, I would have done it a long time ago.”
In the ad, posted in the “foster care” section of the website PennysaverUSA, she wrote that she is in search of a “great family for my son”. Hill added that she loves and misses her son but isn’t financially capable of taking care of him. She is being held at the Dallas Local jail on $50,000 bail.
