Unemployment is increasing and it is irreversible according to a United Nations report for global unemployment. This isn’t a standard employment recession indicates a survey of World of Work Report 2012 for the global job market. After four years of crisis, the labour market is becoming even more instable and difficult to minimize. Long-term unemployed are threatened of exclusion from the labour market, being unable to get new jobs even in case of robust economic recovery.
The report which was released on Monday, by the International Labor Organisation with the headquarters in Geneva, show that there are 50 million fewer jobs in the world compared to 2008 at the beginning of the global economic disaster. The recovery delayed in advanced economies such as Japan and United States and the most affected areas are the Arab regions and Africa. Meanwhile the report indicates that employees’ competencies don’t meet the increasing requirements of the little companies hiring.
The global meltdown is changing the pleople’s life, and it is very different from the previous economic crisis, when the unemployment was temporary and most of the jobs came back. Presently, the new jobs created are often in the technological innovation industries demanding very high skilled employees.
World unemployment is expected to reach 202 million in 2012 or 6.1 % of the world active population. Austerity measures in Europe haven’t helped.
In United States the unemployment rate was 8.2% in March according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
The report recommend the increasing of the aggregate demand, by maintaining low interest rates, in order to encourage business investment and spending products and services. It is recommended also a strong investment in education and training to provide workers with the skills needed in the growth industries.
